Skin Checks
If you notice a new spot or one that has changed, consult Dr Bauer as soon as possible.
It could save your life.
What should you lookout for?
a spot that looks and feels different from other spots on your skin
a spot that has changed size, shape, colour or texture
a sore that doesn’t heal within a few weeks
a sore that is itchy or bleeds.
Treatments involve the use of a “dermatoscope” and biopsy for analysis. With cryotherapy, or an excision used for removal.
See below.
Cryotherapy
What is cryotherapy?
Cryotherapy uses liquid nitrogen to freeze off skin lesions, warts, and certain types of skin cancers at earlier stages of development.
It is a quick, safe treatment available with Dr Bauer, that has minimal risks and a fast recovery time.
Excisions
What is an excision?
An excision is a procedure to completely remove a skin cancer, cyst or lesion by using a scalpel and other instruments.
It is done under local anaesthetic and the wound stitched with great care by Dr Bauer to reduce scarring or chances of infection.
To much time in the sun?
A strange bumb on your rump?
Fluids oozing from a sump?
Looking like a warty witch
or crusty barnacle with an itch
no longer such fun?
Hmm, time to get a stitch or nine
and fix the sitch-
uation.
Red dot, black spot, brown splot?
Pigment disclouration or skin cell mutation?
Malignant or benign?
Ye ol cyst looking for a sign?
Not sure?
Well… come see the Doc.
